Public Private Partnership (PPP) EZ

Under the PPP implementation model, EZs on government land will be developed and operated by private developers selected through competitive bidding

Through  well-incentivized EZs, the Bangladesh government aims to develop and diversify exports and simultaneously encourage domestic manufacturing, to create jobs, and pilot new policies and approaches (for example, in customs, legal, labor, and public-private partnership aspects). These EZs will also allow for more efficient government supervision of enterprises, provision of off-site infrastructure, and environmental controls. These EZs will provide immense business and employment opportunities for all sections of society in Bangladesh. BEZA started activities for PPP zones with the support of the World Bank under two projects within PSDSP. PPP EZs are as follows:

  • Mongla EZ : Mongla EZ is the first PPP EZ in Bangladesh. The developer of first PPP EZ is PowerPac-PPMKPPL JV.
  • Mirsarai EZ (1st Phase): The Powerpac-East West –Gasmin JV is the  developer for this zone.
