BEZA signs MoU with Sichuan Silkroad Chamber of Commerce

Sichuan SilkRoad Economic Belt Investment and Cooperation Chamber of Commerce has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority for establishing Sichuan Industrial Park at Mirsarai Economic Zone. They have proposed for 988.50 acres of land in Mirsarai for constructing the park with an estimated investment of USD 1.59 billion.

The proposed project will consist of an industrial manufacturing area, commercial complex area, urban residential area, vocational skill training area and cultural communication area.

Power and electricity, new energy automobile and motorcycle, agriculture machinery and livestock feeds will be produced in the industrial manufacturing area.

Commercial residential area will comprise of steel, textile and food processing industries. A planned residential area will be set up in the industrial park to accommodate the work force. Vocational skill training area with modern training facilities will produce capable manpower ensuring efficient production.

An exclusive Sino-Bangla culture communication center will be established to strengthen the existing cultural bond between China and Bangladesh.

The Chairman of Sichuan SilkRoad Economic Belt Investment and Cooperation Chamber of Commerce and Executive Member of BEZA Harunur Rashid signed the MoU on behalf of their organization.

In his speech the Executive Chairman of BEZA said China is the number one bilateral trade partner of Bangladesh and this MoU will recreate our connection with Sichuan province. While exchanging views with journalists, he informed that BEZA has sought approval for naming Mirsarai Economic Zone as Bangabandhu Industrial Park. He further added that this 33 kilometer long zone will be turned into the first ever planned and a complete industrial city within near future. Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority is working fast in Mirsarai and Feni of Chattogram to establish the largest Economic Zone in Bangladesh, comprising of 30,000 acre of land.

Representatives from different construction, financial and other institutions of Sichuan province as well as BEZA officials were present in the MoU signing ceremony.
