Hoshendi Economic Zone Gets Final License as 11th Private Economic Zone

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) on Wednesday awarded license to Hosendi Economic Zone, a concern of City Group.

Once completed, the proposed private economic zone (EZ) is expected to generate 15,000 direct and indirect employment as well as draw investments worth of US$ 2.0 billion.

The licence awarding ceremony was held at the BEZA Conference Room in the city, presided over by BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury.

BEZA members Ashoke Kumar Biswas and Md Harunur Rashid, and City Group Chairman Fazlur Rahman attended the ceremony among others.

The proposed EZ will be established in Munshiganj’s Gajaria on an area of 108 acres besides the Meghna River.

According to the project master plan, entrepreneurs will establish different industrial units including salt, chemical, pre-fabricated building materials, cement, shipping, ceramic, light engineering, automobiles and paper mills.

The private EZ will be an environmentally friendly industrial estate having adequate amount of green zone, open spaces, waste management facilities and effluent treatment plant (ETP).

BEZA has so far given 20 pre-qualification licenses to establish private EZs. with the inclusion of Hoshendi Economic Zone, 11 got the final licenses.
